2005-2009 Joint Work Plan Tasks
The 2005-2009 Joint Lake Whatcom Work Plan was adopted by the County Council, City of Bellingham Council, and Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District Commissioners in 2005 with an update provided in 2006. Nine tasks were identified associated with Stormwater Management:
- Use pollutant loading models to identify priority areas in the watershed.
- Evaluate inventories and cost-effectiveness to prioritize retrofit sites;
- Provide education on street sweeping;
- City implementation of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II Stormwater requirements;
- County implementation of NPDES Phase II Stormwater requirements;
- Develop strategy for pollutant source reduction;
- Explore options for property purchase associated with stormwater retrofits;
- Placeholder for other possible projects; and
- Coordinate stormwater actions with transportation planning areas.
