Forestry/Fish/Wildlife

At this point in time, the majority of the Lake Whatcom watershed is in a forested condition. Much of this land is managed for timber harvest either by the State Department of Natural Resources, timber management companies, or private landowners. In addition, the lake and watershed provide habitat to a wide variety of fish and wildlife species. This element of the management program strives to develop and maintain a comprehensive watershed forest management plan that minimizes impacts to water quality and promotes actions and programs that protect and enhance fish and wildlife habitat.
