Selecting Pest Resistant Plants

There are many resources out there with advice on smart plant selections. Pest problems and plant varieties tend to be regional so keep in mind that what works well in Florida may not in the Lake Whatcom area.
Consult WSU Master Gardeners and garden centers for advice on resistant plants that thrive in this area. Be ready to give them information on your landscape, such as sunlight exposure, drainage, soil type, etc.
Know which insect pests and diseases your plant might have to deal with. Select plants that show resistance to these potential problems.
Check over plants before you buy them to be sure they don't show signs or symptoms of pest problems.
